| We get alot of questions
about the Batmobile, and while we'd like to answer them all, we
simply don't have the time. However, we've added a section
to address the most frequently asked questions.
Some Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Can I buy a Batmobile from
T.R.I.X.?
A1. Sorry, but no. T.R.I.X. is a specially
licensed contractor, and is not permitted to sell Batmobiles, or
share any design specifications with any 3rd party. Our Batmobiles
are specially modified for use in shows, and the information concerning
their manufacture is "top secret".
Q2. Why are some Batmobiles made with
Electric Engines?
A2. Batmobiles with electric engines are used
for indoor filming, commercials, and for shows at Six Flags.
Because there are no gasoline fumes, they are ideal for use indoors.
Depending upon the configuration, these electric Batmobiles can
run up to 2 hours without recharging! Electric engines are just
as powerful as gasoline engines, in fact, they are so fast that
Ted had to design a special governor for the accelerator to prevent
it from hitting top speed while being used indoors!
Q3. Why use POR-15 instead of
other rust preventatives?
A3. Rust is caused by moisture coming in contact
with metal. Eventually, all paints are weakened by exposure
to moisture, they crack, peel, or become soft. This allows
the moisture to penetrate and get to the metal - allowing rust to
form. POR - 15 works because it chemically bonds to rusted
metal and forms a rock- hard, non-porous coating that won't crack,
chip, or peel. It keeps moisture away from metal with a coating
that is strengthened by continued exposure to moisture. And the
best part, is that it's as easy to work with as any other paint!
At T.R.I.X., we are authorized POR-15 dealers, so if you'd like
some for your project, give us a call!
Q4. Are these replica cars?
What rims or wheels are used ?
A4. The Batmobiles you see here are not replica
cars, they are custom built for specific applications. Some were
used for indoor filming, some for commercials, and some for theme
park shows. The rims and wheels were chosen dependent upon
the specific application and chassis. In fact, some of these
chassis were created from the ground up using technology and experience
gained from the TRIX auto racing history. Notice the rounded tubular
framework? That's racecar rollbar tubing! Safety is
always a number one concern at TRIX!
Q5. What would it cost me to have
a Batmobile made? Or, could I get a bodykit and make my own?
A5. Batmobiles are a licensed product which
is not for sale to the general public. TRIX is licensed to
build the batmobiles that you see here. Because we are a custom
design and sheetmetal shop, we do not use body or car kits, so we
cannot advise you on the possible availability of these types of
items - sorry!
